State Minister Shehan Semasinghe accuses the opposition of defending people who were behind the 2019 Easter Sunday attacks.
Speaking during yesterday’s Parliamentary debate, State Minister Semasinghe said it is humorous that the current opposition which was in power during the Easter bombings is demanding justice and seeking debates to discuss the country’s situation.
He said the activities of the likes of SSP Shani Abeysekara and Nalaka Silva will come to light soon.
State Minister Semasinghe said it is unfortunate that Parliament is being used to defend corrupt individuals.
He said by doing so, the opposition is disrespecting the people who passed away in the attacks.
Parliamentarian Chaminda Wijesiri meanwhile said individual who are frustrated with the government’s programme are directly raising their concerns with the Head of State.
MP Wijesiri said during a recent event, residents of Galle responded appropriately when the President visited these areas. He said the government will face stiff resistance from the public in future.
He said farmers who were affected by the fertiliser crisis are expressing their opinions openly.
He added the government will not be able to face the public in future unless it changes its programme.
