Only fully vaccinated vendors will be permitted to go door-to-door and sell essential food items in the Colombo District during the imposition of quarantine curfew.
Speaking during a media briefing in Colombo, District Secretary Pradeep Yasaratne said frequent raids will be carried out regarding the prices and health and safety of the goods being sold.
Yasaratne noted vendors must strictly adhere to health guidelines, while prices of goods must be displayed on the vehicles used to sell goods.
Meanwhile commenting on the programme to provide a Rs.2,000 allowance to persons who lost their livelihood due to the imposition of curfew in the Colombo District, Pradeep Yasaratne said the Treasury has issued Rs.467 million in provisions for this purpose.
He added over 250,000 individuals have been identified under the initial phase.
Yasaratne stated they will be provided the allowance in the coming week.
