Leader of the Opposition Sajith Premadasa says the country can only be rebuilt through a democratic and free people’s struggle.
MP Premadasa alleged that a new era of stealing from shipments of medicine and gas has dawned.
Addressing media today MP Premadasa said the country has been destroyed by short-sighted decisions of those in power.
MP Premadasa said although he expected the government to take a more people oriented approach to governance, it has not come to fruition.
The Opposition Leader noted, certain individuals are exploiting the crisis by claiming to be ‘independent’ and maintaining their positions within former political parties.
He charged such individuals of blurring the line between state and opposition and causing confusion to the public.
MP Premadasa said the government are engaged in a campaign to ensure they remain in power for the next two and a half years.
He added that certain individuals have given much thought on measures to safeguard their privileges while claiming to have been politically rehabilitated.
