The National STD/AIDS Control Programme and the Health Promotion Bureau have informed the public that HIV testing is active across the country and can be booked online.
Although the number of HIV infections in Sri Lanka is low in comparison to other countries, the number of new cases is reportedly steadily increasing.
Sri Lanka currently has 3,700 individuals with HIV in Sri Lanka.
410 cases of HIV were reported last year, while a slight decline was witnessed in the number of cases reported in 2020 and 2021 in comparison to 2019.
The Programme attributed this to the restrictions imposed on HIV testing amidst COVID-19 epidemic.
Accordingly, anyone seeking to be tested for HIV can make appointments online by visiting the www.know4sure.lk.
The public can also contact 0112 667 163, 0703 633 533 for more information.
In addition, self-test kits can also be delivered to homes by contacting 0716 379 192.
