The Cabinet of Ministers has granted approval to the proposal to implement the National Single Window project to ease and facilitate international business activities.
The proposal has been submitted to the Cabinet by the Prime Minister in his capacity as the Minister of Finance.
Sri Lanka is a party to the Trade Facilitation Agreement of World Trade Organisation, which has been in force since February 2017.
According to the agreement, Sri Lanka is obliged to establish and maintain a Single Window to submit documents and data required to be submitted to the authorities of the participatory trade.
Accordingly the formal plan for the project was prepared in 2018 under the auspices of the World Bank. The Cabinet has now granted approval to implement the “National Single Window” project.
