The Health Professionals Association has submitted a report to President Gotabaya Rajapaksa on carrying out ‘on arrival’ PCR testing without hindering the tourism industry.

Speaking during a media briefing in Colombo, President of the Association Ravi Kumudesh said certain groups had issued negative advise to the President, claiming on arrival PCR testing must be suspended as it would hinder the tourism industry.

Kumudesh said they made it clear in the report on ways of carrying out on arrival PCR testing while maximising benefits.

He said tourists and expatriates will refrain from visiting the country if stringent laboratory practises are not followed and in the event the Omicron virus variant breaks out.
