Parliamentarian SM Marikkar says if European countries are unable to support Sri Lanka, Middle Eastern support should be sought to obtain fuel at a concessionary rate.
Speaking in Parliament today MP Marikkar said the public has only been hearing of the government’s difficulties and that the future would only be worse.
MP Marikkar said the people are aware of their hardships and are therefore seeking solutions to their grievances.
He charged that the government ruined the country over two years.
MP Marikkar said when the new Prime Minister was appointed expectations were high that foreign exchange will flow through international support.
However he charged that financial support has not been extended from countries such as the United States, Japan, or EU countries.
MP Marikkar therefore urged the government to seek Middle Eastern support and to reach an agreement to obtain a credit line for fuel for a year.
