The National People’s Power says it is prepared to undertake the challenge of uplifting the country.
Speaking during a media briefing this morning, leader of the NPP Parliamentarian Anura Kumara Dissanayake said the public is disappointed in the present government, and are rejecting a traditional political culture.
MP Dissanayake added the public is seeking a new avenue and solutions to their grievances.
He noted the National People’s Power is prepared to take on the challenge of uplifting the country.
He claimed the party will focus on instilling hope in the country’s youth, businessmen, professionals, rural folk and all communities and called on citizens to work together towards this.
MP Dissanayake said the country is at a critical and decisive juncture, with the public left with two alternatives.
He claimed the first is resorting to traditional politicians and heading along a downward trend while the other is a public led movement to uplift a fallen state and urged the public to pick the latter.
Joining the briefing MP Dr. Harini Amarasuriya said they saw people’s issues intensifying throughout the past year, with their future uncertain, and the dangers and instability they faced.
She added merely listening to public grievances is insufficient and claimed that action must be taken with the public expecting their intervention.
MP Amarasuriya said a public representative meeting has been organised on the 20th of December focused on creating a change adding that despite the differences common ground can be found.
She called on the public to join the journey with the NPP on the 20th to bring the country new hope and change.
