The Anura Kumara Dissanayake led National People’s Power has decided to support the No-Confidence Motion that is being tabled against the government by the Samagi Jana Balawegaya.
Parliamentarian Dr. Harini Amarasuriya when contacted by NewsRadio said the party is of the view that an interim government should be established with a short term programme to fulfil certain specific requirements, which they will support.
However, MP Amarasuriya said the NPP has certain conditions in order to extend their support to the formation of an interim government.
She added the President and Prime Minister must step down, which she said is the main demand of the on-going people’s struggle.
The MP noted Parliament no longer reflects public interests, and stated that such a rule cannot continue in the long term.
MP Amarasuriya added through an interim government, citizens should be allowed to elected leaders.
