The National People’s Power has presented four proposals to solve the present crisis in the country.
Party leader Parliamentarian Anura Kumara Dissanayaka making a special statement today said if the proposals received a favourable response the NPP would be in favour of an interim government.
The MP said the first proposal called for President Gotabaya Rajapaksa to step down from the post of Executive President, and secondly the resignation of the government.
The MPs third and fourth proposals were holding a General Election and providing relief to the public who have been affected as a result of the prevalent crisis.
He said an interim government must be formed until an election can be held, adding that it was not possible to provide solutions to the issues immediately if the President resigns.
The MP said an interim government must focus on providing relief to the public.
The MP added the NPP is ready for discussions regarding the formation of an interim government, claiming the party has several proposals related to the structure and functions of an interim government.
