The National People’s Power says the country’s economy weakened as a result of the rupee depreciating against the dollar and fuel prices increasing.
Speaking during a media briefing Leader of the NPP Parliamentarian Anura Kumara Dissanayaka said the country is facing an economic crisis at present.
MP Dissanayaka said a black market has been created and the present administration has failed to provide essential goods and services to the public at fair rates and in sufficient amounts.
MP Dissanayaka noted the price of milk powder was increased sharply last night adding prices of regular meals at restaurants also increased.
The MP stated all sectors of society are burdened by the prevailing economic crisis.
Meanwhile the National People’s Power has organized a rally against the present government on Wednesday, the 23rd of March.
MP Dissanayaka said a massive protest march will get underway at the Delkanda Junction at 3pm, following which a rally will be held in Nugegoda.
He said the NPP is prepared to rally the people to overthrow the government adding however merely overthrowing the government will not be sufficient.
The MP stated the public must also put an end to the rule of the past 70 years and create a people centred rule.
