Assistant Secretary of the Government Medical Officers Association Dr. Naveen de Zoysa says the GMOA has not objected to resolving teacher principal salary anomalies.
Speaking at a media briefing yesterday Dr. Zoysa said concerns related to salaries should be resolved in accordance with the National Salary Policy.
Dr. Zoysa said policies are required in a country adding that a government is appointed in order to fulfil these policies.
While claiming there are shortcomings in the National Salary Policy introduced in 2006, Dr. Zoysa said the teachers struggle to win over their rights is justified.
However, he noted that teachers and doctors, are responsible towards the country’s health and education professions and claimed that existing policies should be adhered to in the least.
He added the teachers concerns must be solved adding that certain groups have been affected by the inconsistencies in the National Salary Policy.
