Minister of Justice Ali Sabry says no undue influence has been made into investigations regarding the incident in which former State Minister of Prison Management & Prisoners’ Rehabilitation Lohan Ratwatte allegedly entered the Anuradhapura Prison and threatened a group of LTTE prisoners.
Speaking to media during an observational tour of the Anuradhapura Prison the Justice Minister said, no one refutes that an incident took place at the prison with the involvement of State Minister Ratwatte.
Minister Sabry said he inquired with the LTTE prisoners whether they were influenced by prison officials or any other individual, when they met with the Sri Lanka Human Rights Commission, Tamil National Alliance and other opposition MPs.
The Minister noted the group of prisoners had stated that they were not influenced in any manner, while Minister Namal Rajapaksa who also visited the group had advised them to detail the incident as it happened.
He added therefore there was no need to politicise the incident.
Minister Sabry said the group of prisoners had also stated that they understood that the incident was not racially motivated.
