The Ceylon Teachers Service Union has questioned why trade unions not part of the ongoing union action have lodged complaints with Minister Sarath Weerasekera.
Chief Secretary of the Union Mahinda Jayasinghe said there are no provisions in the country to file complaints with Ministers in the country.
He said the government through various means has sought to suppress trade unions adding that Ministers have also made various statements.
Jayasinghe said the government attempted to portray the teacher principal trade unions in a negative light among the people by spreading lies and even creating COVID-clusters through them.
He noted the struggle by teachers and principals cannot be suppressed through such actions.
