Minister of Power Gamini Lokuge says power cuts will not be enforced today.
Speaking to media, Minister Lokuge said the decision was reached following discussions with President Gotabaya Rajapaksa this afternoon.
The Minister said officials of the Ceylon Electricity Board and the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation held discussions with the President today while the President requested a programme to be enforced to ensure an uninterrupted power supply.
Minister Lokuge said there is sufficient fuel to generate power with steps taken to ensure a steady supply of fuel in future as well.
The Minister also stated that CEB engineers who were present at today’s meeting vowed that power cuts will not be enforced.
