Parliamentarian Patali Champika Ranawaka says he has no plans of joining the Samagi Jana Balawegaya.
MP Ranawaka yesterday informed that he will act as an independent MP in the Opposition.
The MP organised a media briefing to inform of his future plans after announcing his independent status in Parliament.
Speaking to media he stressed on the need for a democratic ruling culture which has recognised local norms, instead of a family-centric culture of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna, which is present today.
He said this new mechanism should not be either Capitalist or Marxist but instead a mechanism which lies between those two philosophies, which matches the needs of intellectuals and gen Z.
MP Ranawaka said the Samagi Jana Balawegaya did not meet public expectations.
However after announcing his independent status, the MP said he will observe policy decisions taken by the party in future.
MP Patali Champika Ranawaka said he is ready to support the government in any practical decisions they may take to resolve the present economic crisis in the country.
Parliamentarian Ranawaka said he will support Constitutional amendments included in the 19th Amendment.
He said his faction has no plans to act as a barrier to the government’s plans, but noted that the Prime Minister must deliver on his deadlines as promised to the people.
