Police say individuals will not be allowed to park vehicles near areas where May Day rallies are scheduled to be held.
Senior Superintendent of Police Nihal Thalduwa said certain areas in Colombo have been designated as parking spaces for those who are schedule to attend rallies.
SSP Thalduwa explained that one rally will be held at the Ananda Samarakoon Open air Theatre on Stanley Thilakaratne Mawatha in Nugegoda.
He also noted that traffic maybe experienced due to another rally which will move towards Independence Square from Peliyagoda, through baseline road and Ward place.
Police called on drivers to use alternate routes and requested them to avoid Union Place, Hyde Park Corner, Maligawatta, Slave Island, Maradana Junction, Technical Junction, Olcott Road, roads around the Fort Railway Station and Lake House.
The Police Headquarters announced that roads will not be closed during the day owing to the marches and rallies.
Since parking vehicles will not be allowed around areas where rallies are staged, SSP Thalduwa said car parks have been created in the Borella area.
He said any individual looking to park their vehicles can inquire the location of designated car parks from Police officers.
