The Samagi Jana Balawegaya charges that there is no difference between former Prime Ministers Ranil Wickremesinghe and Mahinda Rajapaksa
Addressing a media briefing SJB General Secretary Parliamentarian Ranjith Madduma Bandara charged the leader of the United National Party of being heavily involved with the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna.
He claimed there was no difference between Ranil Wickremesinghe and former Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa.
Responding to a question by a journalist related to the involvement of SJB MPs in forming a new government, MP Madduma Bandara said any member of the party has the democratic right to do as he pleases.
However, the MP stated despite rumours, no SJB Parliamentarian would want to form a government with SLPP MPs.
When questioned by a journalist regarding United National Party General Secretary Palitha Range Bandara’s claim that 20 SJB MPs were prepared to join the UNP, the Parliamentarian refuted it as old news adding such claims should be dismissed.
Parliamentarian Ranjith Madduma Bandara said he is of the belief that no SJB MP will be involved in the establishment of a new Cabinet of Ministers.
On a separate note, he said the party proposed several conditions under which it would accept responsibility of governing the country.
The MP said a definite timeline should be agreed upon for the resignation of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa adding the current President has been rejected by the public and lead the country to economic ruin.
He said the second condition cites that the President must not intervene in the activities of a short-term interim government.
MP Madduma Bandara said the third condition is the abolishment of the Executive Presidency within the Constitutional framework and in agreeance with all political parties.
The fourth condition put forth by the SJB is the conduct of a General Election, once a sense of normalcy and rule of law is achieved.
The MP said the SJB is prepared to accept responsibility of governing the country if the above conditions are met.
