The Ministry of Health says a decision has not been reached thus far pertaining to making the vaccination card mandatory to enter certain places.
Speaking during a media briefing Deputy Director General of Health Services Dr. Hemantha Herath said discussions are underway in this regard.
Dr. Herath added whether or not the vaccination card that was provided can be put into practical use is being considered at present.
He noted the legal framework in this regard and concerns pertaining to people’s rights are also being discussed.
Dr. Herath said the relevant decision can only be reached once these issues are addressed.
Dr. Hemantha Herath said it may be implemented if the necessary environment is created.
