The National People’s Power says the 2022 Budget has not presented any decisions to reduce the cost of living.
Speaking to NewsRadio Parliamentarian Harini Amarasuriya claimed the image portrayed by the government regarding Minister of Finance Basil Rajapaksa prior to the Budget, faded after the Budget was presented.
MP Harini Amarasuriya said the government Budget proposal does not encompass public expectations.
She pointed out that an allocation of 7.2% of GDP which was promised to the public has not been granted, adding that allocations for health has also reduced.
MP Amarasuriya noted that suggestions to reduce cost of living or any other increasing economic indicators have not been presented through the Budget.
The Parliamentarian said no radical change has been implemented in the budget proposal presented today as promised by Minister of Finance Basil Rajapaksa.
She argued that concessions presented are not sufficient as the budget shows incremental changes to the previous budget.
