Minister Mahinda Amaraweera says a decision was not reached yesterday on increasing fuel prices.
Speaking to media in Colombo he noted lengthy discussions were held over the fuel issue, adding however no decision was reached to increase prices, while a continuous supply was ensured.
The Minister said Minister of Energy Udaya Gammanpila stated he will not let there be a fuel shortage, while adding that the Finance Minister did not propose a price hike.
He further said Minister of Finance Basil Rajapaksa said a decision will be reached following discussions with relevant parties.
The Minister added arbitrary decisions will not be reached.
Minister Amaraweera said whether or not the imposition of a tax will cause injustice to a certain group will also be considered prior to reaching a decision on taxes in future.
