Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekera says no decision has been taken by the Cabinet of Ministers thus far, to revise electricity tariffs.
In a statement, Minister Wijesekera said a proposal to revise electricity tariffs by the Ceylon Electricity Board has been approved by the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka.
The proposed tariff revisions by CEB has been approved by PUSL and not for the first time. The requests has been made multiple times since 2015. The cabinet has the authority to implement it, revise it or to reject the proposal. No decision has been made on the request so far.

The Minister said however only the Cabinet has the authority to implement such proposals.
Minister Kanchana Wijesekera noted the Cabinet can also revise or reject such proposals and noted that such requests have been made on multiple occasions since 2015.
