The Inter-Provincial Private Bus Association has confirmed that it has not commenced a strike today but long-distance bus operations will be limited due to the shortage of fuel.
Speaking to media, Chairman of the Association Sarath Vijitha Kumara said certain bus owners are facing difficulties in obtaining diesel from filling stations.
He said therefore there will be a reduction in buses on roads today.
Sarath Vijitha Kumara noted that there is a proposal to obtain fuel for long-distance buses from a bowser at the Basitian Mawatha bus terminal.
He expected the proposal to be enforced next week. Sarath Vijitha Kumara said accordingly they are hoping to resume full operation from next week.
