Nine foreign nationals have been arrested in Southern seas in a trawler, for the possession of a large stock of heroin.
Police Media Spokesman Senior Superintendent of Police Nihal Thalduwa said a joint operation by the Police and the Sri Lanka Navy led to the arrest of the group last night.
The SSP said the weight and value of the narcotics is yet to be determined.
The suspects are currently being escorted to shore by the Navy.
The consignment along with the nine suspects were seized by authorities based on a tip off.
