Nine individuals have been arrested following a clash between the public and Police at a filling station in Athurugiriya last night.
Police said a group of individuals had broken through a security fence of the filling station after being informed that fuel had run out.
Steps had been to control the crowd.
Six Police officers sustained injuries in the clashes and were admitted to the Homagama Hospital.
