The duration of daily power disruptions will reduce to three hours or less from tomorrow.
The Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka said a new schedule has been issued owing to the conduct of the GCE Ordinary Level, which begins tomorrow.
Addressing a media briefing, Chairman of the Commission Janaka Ratnayake stated power cuts will not be imposed after 6.30pm daily from tomorrow to the 1st of June.
Meanwhile, Chairman Janaka Ratnayake stated that 270MW of electricity will be added to the national grid tomorrow since the issues in the Norochcholai power plant are being rectified.
He said repairs at the plant are expected to be completed by midnight while testing is currently underway.
The Chairman of the PUCSL stated that due to the 270MWaddition to the national grid, supplying electricity continuously for the duration of the GCE Ordinary Level Examinations could be done without any issues.
He noted that 10,000 MT of diesel would have been needed to generate electricity without the contribution of the Norochcholai power plant.
