The JVP claims Sri Lanka cannot come out of an economic recession without a predetermined and strong plan.
Speaking to media in Colombo, party leader MP Anura Kumara Dissanayake said charlatans do not possess the skill to develop the country.
He said President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has also been branded a charlatan after coming to power.
MP Dissanayake added the public, the government mechanism, and the private sector will be the only parties capable of overcoming the crisis.
The JVP leader accused the Prime Minister of failing to present a recovery plan, adding that the Premier has become a spokesman for the people’s struggle as he only provides updates on issues and not solutions.
Also speaking on the delay to introduce a 21st Amendment to the Constitution, MP Dissanayake said the Prime Minister has not presented a draft of the 21st Amendment at last Monday’s Cabinet of Ministers meeting, despite mentioning it in Parliament.
MP Dissanayake recalled that the power hunger in the former Prime Minister and the current President is inculcated within the 19th Amendment.
Therefore, He explained that a power struggle between two top positions of power is indicated in the 21st Amendment.
MP Dissanayake said the JVP is concerned over introducing healthy constitutional reforms, overtaking the power struggle of the President and the Prime Minister.
