Our Power of People Party Parliamentarian Ven. Athuraliye Rathana thera says he will not support a No-Confidence Motion that will lead the country to anarchy.
Speaking in Parliament today, MP Rathana thera said the government is solely responsible for the present crisis, and disregarded issues that arose in the country and treated people outside their family like peasants.
Today, the thera said the country is in tatters and the government must bear responsibility.
MP Rathana thera said he is not opposed to Sri Lanka seeking the support of the International Monetary Fund, yet claimed that the IMF is not a temple to be worshipped.
The Venerable noted that the solution lies within them, and called for the Prime Minister to resign in order to bring about change.
The Parliamentarian noted the Samagi Jana Balawegaya is tabling a No-Confidence Motion and expressed his willingness to support the Motion.
However, Ven. Athuraliye Rathana thera said the SJB must be willing to take on governance, adding that they will support the No-Confidence Motion under such circumstances.
The venerable noted that the crisis must be faced as a country together.
