The Sri Lanka Navy has seized an Indian vessel for engaging in illegal fishing on Sri Lankan waters.
The Navy arrested the six Indian fishermen and their vessel during a patrol off the North West coast of the Kovilan lighthouse in Jaffna this morning.
A statement by the Navy said arrangements are being made to direct the Indian vessel and fishermen to relevant authorities for further legal action.
During this month alone, the Navy arrested 29 Indian fishermen on board six fishing vessels which entered Lankan waters to engage in illegal fishing.
