Navy apprehends 13 Indian fishermen aboard two trawlers

The Sri Lanka Navy has apprehended two more Indian fishing trawlers with 13 Indian fishermen aboard, while poaching in Sri Lankan waters.

The special operation was conducted in seas west of the Analathivu Island, Jaffna.

During the past three days, 10 Indian fishing trawlers and 68 Indian fishermen have been arrested for poaching in Lankan territorial waters.

The Navy said the operation was carried out while adhering to the COVID-19 protocol.

Steps are being taken to hand over the apprehended Indian fishermen for legal action, after directing them for a Rapid Antigen Tests.
