Protestors have obstructed the Navinna area on the High Level Road in Maharagama as a result of an ongoing protest demanding gas.
Heavy traffic congestion is reported from the area on the High-level road.
Area residents organised a similar protest against a shortage of LP gas six days ago.
Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe will make a special address to the nation this evening.
