The National Fuel Pass system via the QR code system will be implemented from Monday, the 25th of July.
Minister of Energy Kanchana Wijesekera said two million motorists have registered under the QR system as of 4pm today (19).
The Minister said registrations for the National Fuel Pass will continue.
He said the pilot project will be conducted in multiple locations in Colombo between the 21st and 24th of July based on the last digit of the number plate.
Meanwhile, changes have been introduced to the last digit of the number plate to obtain fuel from the 21st of July across the island.
Accordingly, vehicles with number plates ending with 0, 1, and 2 can obtain fuel on Tuesday and Saturday.
Vehicles with number plates ending with digits 3, 4, and 5 can obtain fuel on Thursday and Sunday and vehicles with numbers 6, 7, 8, and 9 on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
