Minister of Trade Bandula Gunawardana says the country must be transformed into an export processing zone in order to address the dollar crisis.
Addressing a function yesterday the Minister said three key methods can be followed towards this purpose.
The Minister said tea, rubber, and coconut exports must be expended to other non-traditional goods, the export market must be diversified without being restricted to traditional ways, while the export industry must be modernised.
He added politicians’ slogans will not support such efforts adding they are not solutions.
Minister Gunawardana said the ground reality must be understood adding that goods and services promotions are crucial.
