The Samagi Jana Balawegaya says the government must build trust among the local farming community to compel them to use organic fertiliser imported from foreign countries.
Therefore the party called on the government to publish a gazette notification communicating a scheme for compensation, if farmers use the organic fertiliser recommended and incur losses during cultivation of crops.
Speaking to media today Former Parliamentarian P Harrison said such an assurance must be given by the state who imposed regulations to ban chemical fertilizer imports.
Commenting on the increasing cost of living, Former MP Harrison said state sector workers are barely surviving mainly thanks to the salary increase during the tenure of the former government.
He questioned the governments promise for concessions through essential commodities.
