The National People’s Power says most local projects initiated by Sri Lanka are not the result of economic plans devised by the country’s leadership.
Speaking to media in Kandy yesterday, party leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake said a majority of new buildings and resources available in the country are economic strategies of China and India.
He reiterated that corruption was a major concern to the public, at present.
The NPP leader recalled that a majority of projects such as the Colombo Port City, Hambantota Port and leasing of the Colombo Port East Terminal to China were influenced by economic roadmaps of other countries.
However MP Dissanayake says Sri Lanka must have an independent economic plan to prosper as the local leaders plan.
He said leaders must think of forming alliances with the private sector in order to capture the world market, since that would fastrack development.
The NPP Leader stressed on the importance of having an independent economic plan, void of foreign influence.
