The Collective of Trade Unions claims it will stage a continuous protest for a week starting tomorrow, despite the imposition of a State of Emergency.
Yesterday, trade unions decided to declare a week of continuous protests from tomorrow to Friday.
Accordingly, a decision was reached to stage protests throughout the week while union members will rally in the vicinity of Parliament on the 17th of this month together with the public.
Speaking during a media briefing in Colombo today, Convener Ravi Kumudesh said, the State of Emergency has been imposed to silence the people who are voicing their displeasure.
He said the government instead of providing solutions to the issues faced by the people is attempting to suppress them.
