The Ministry of Agriculture states a shipment of urea fertiliser promised to be delivered to Sri Lanka by the Indian government is scheduled to arrive at the Colombo Port on the 10th or 11th of July.
The ship carrying 65,000MT of urea fertiliser is scheduled to leave Oman on the 28th of this month.
Accordingly, the relevant fertiliser will be distributed to farmers from the 15th of July.
The stock of urea fertiliser will be distributed to Agrarian Service Centres through the Fertiliser Secretariat, the Commercial Fertiliser Company, and the Ceylon Fertiliser Company.
The Agriculture Ministry further stated arrangements have been made to sell a 50kg bag of fertiliser at Rs.10,000 through Agrarian Service Centres.
The fertiliser will be provided to paddy and maize farmers for the next Yala season.
