Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s intervention to secure the immediate release of 29 Indian fishermen and 79 boats in Sri Lanka.
The Chief Minister drew attention to the third arrest of fishermen from Tamil Nadu by the Sri Lanka Navy within a span of several weeks.
In a letter to Premier Modi, Stalin said the arrests are a shock to Tamil Nadu citizens.
In the most recent incident, the Sri Lanka Navy arrested 11 Indian fishermen who set sail on Monday.
