A former Consumer Assistant Software Engineer of a private company has been arrested over the incident related to the missing files from the database of the National Medicines Regulatory Authority.
The 34 year old individual was attached to the company that set up the database for the NMRA.
He was arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department this evening in Divulapitiya.
Police said the individual was arrested under provisions of the Computer Crimes Act and Public Properties Act.
The Chief Executive Officer of the company was previously arrested and granted bail.
An overseas travel ban was imposed on the CEO while his passport was impounded by Court.
He was ordered to be present before the CID on the last Sunday every month.
The CID is continuing investigations into the missing data of the NMRA database.
