The opposition charges several Ministries of wasting paper and spending excessive amounts to print reports, at a time that final term exams at schools were postponed due to a shortage of paper.
Speaking in Parliament MP Mujibur Rahuman said the annual report of the State Timber Corporation, which is under the Ministry of Wildlife & Forest Conservation, was presented in Parliament.
He noted the Director of Education of the Western Province informed there was a shortage of papers to print question papers for the term end exams.
MP Rahuman claimed however the report was printed on art paper which may have cost Rs.5,000 per copy, adding it was also embossed.
He added the President has called for costs to be curtailed and to make sacrifices while Ministries print annual reports on expensive paper, by spending a large amount.
