The Samagi Jana Balawegaya says Ministers travelling overseas amidst a dollar crisis in the country, indicated their lack of concern towards the public and the country.

Parliamentarian Tissa Attanayake speaking to media in Kandy yesterday said the government is unconcerned for the country, its people facing financial burdens, and food shortages.

He said when media inquired from Minister Vasudeva Nanayakkara as to why Minister of Finance Basil Rajapaksa left for the United States, he responded by saying it was to visit his wife and children.

He noted the public is severely burdened at present adding it is a waste to spend dollars unnecessarily, at a time that the country’s foreign reserves are depleting.

MP Tissa Attanayake claimed the government is acting in a selfish manner, adding it is setting a bad example.

He noted foreign reserves must be strictly controlled at present, and a strong programme is required to face the collapsing economy.
