Minister of Mass Media Dullas Alahapperuma says he is confident that by the year 2030, citizens will have the opportunity to cast their votes from home without going to polling booths.
Addressing a public meeting in Matara, Minister Alahapperuma said during the recently concluded election in the United States, nearly 44 million voted before the election day.
Minister Dullas Alahapperuma said Sri Lanka will also have an early voting system in future.
He added that the public will not attend rallies and political meetings in future.
The Minister said the technology is advancing and the public is also much more knowledgeable now and therefore racism will have no room in politics.
The Media Minister claimed that candidates would no longer have the opportunity to increase their vote base on the basis of racism or bigotry.
