The Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna says the shortage of milk powder in the market will be resolved by next week.
Speaking at a media briefing today, Minister CB Ratnayake said the shortage arose due to dollar reserve issues and the shortage of milk powder in the world market.
The Minister said the Treasury has issued necessary to release stocks.
The Minister said the country’s economy, prices of goods and the country’s political situation will be discussed at the special Cabinet meeting today.
Minister CB Ratnayake also commented on the teacher principal trade union action based on salary anomalies.
The Minister said parents opposed to trade unions holding 4.9 million student’s education hostage, will rally against teachers and principals.
He added schools have been closed for two years adding that children have faced major drawbacks and urged trade unions to refrain from taking out their frustrations on students.
