The Milk Powder Importers’ Association says the price of milk powder may have to be revised once again.

The Media Spokesman of the Association Asoka Bandara said the price of milk powder in the world market has increased by about 10 percent since the last revision in the price of milk powder in Sri Lanka.

Bandara said milk powder importers are facing a serious crisis as they are unable to open Letters of Credit due to the foreign reserves crisis in the country adding it will take another two months to overcome the current shortage of milk powder.

He said they requested the subject Minster and the government to intervene and take necessary steps adding priority must be given to milk powder imports.

The Media Spokesman said the government is currently working on a solution adding they are expecting a positive response.

Bandara said the issue pertaining to the prices must be looked into practically adding the prices of locally produced items and imported items are increasing.

He said the present issue is not over increasing price but is a matter of importing the product
