The opposition has once again demanded the government to expedite the investigations in relation to the 2019 Easter Sunday Bombings.
Speaking during a media briefing in Colombo today, Parliamentarian Kavinda Jayawardena said it is evident that there are attempts made to slow down investigations and shield certain persons.
MP Jayawardena said the lives of Sinhalese, Tamils, Muslims and Catholics as well as foreign nationals were taken away by the bombers and therefore all Sri Lankans have a right to demand for justice.
He said people are demanding for justice at present adding if their calls are ignored they will rise against the government in future.
MP Kavinda Jayawardena said it is the duty of the government to investigate and punish all perpetrators. He said instead of attacking religious leaders who are demanding for justice, the government should take steps to punish those who were behind the bombings.
MP Jayawardena stressed that they cannot be silenced based on various claims including religious extremism.
