Medicine shortage to end in the upcoming 6 weeks

Health authorities believe that the medicine shortage experienced at Hospitals Island wide will be solved within the next six weeks.

Health authorities believe that the medicine shortage experienced at Hospitals Island wide will be solved within the next six weeks.

Minister of Health Keheliya Rambukwella said they have received sufficient funds to pay for stocks of medicine procured by the State.

Minister Rambukwella noted that 14 types of essential medicines exist in sufficient quantities within the health sector.

However he pointed out that 186 types of medicines are unavailable at hospitals.

Therefore Minister Rambukwella assured that steps will be taken to procure other unavailable medicines as soon as possible.
