The Ministerial Consultative Committee on Labour has agreed to increase the current maximum compensation sum that is paid to employees who are injured in accidents while on duty, or in the event of death, or total disability to Rs.2 million.
At present a compensation free of Rs.550,000 is paid.
It will also expand the interpretation of the compensation terms to provide the compensation sum to incidents when travelling for employment as well.
