The opposition claims although the government holds majority power in Parliament, it is struggling with internal issues.
Speaking to media in Kandy, Parliamentarian Mayantha Dissanayake pointed out that many members of the government faction are also of the view that a change in leadership is required.
He revealed that more than 40 MPs of the government, who he did not name, are in talks with the opposition.
MP Dissanayake claimed that the government MPs are embarrassed to go to their hometowns and face the people, due to the actions of the present administration.
The Parliamentarian revealed open talks in the parliament lobby between the opposition leader and government MPs over the controversial state of the country.
MP Dissanayake commented that many MPs are of similar opinions, and are not satisfied with the current leadership.
