Reports say the Maussakelle and Castlereagh reservoirs are receiving intermittent showers as of last night.
Residents of the Maussakelle catchment areas such as Maskeliya, Sri Pada Nallathanniya, Apkat and Samimale said they experienced heavy rainfall.
An engineer at the Maussakelle Reservoir said water levels had dropped from 120 feet to 44 feet due to the dry weather experienced in Sri Lanka.
Meanwhile, Engineers at the Castlereagh said water levels decreased from 155 feet to 39 feet, but is crurrently receiving heavy rain since last afternoon.
An official of the Hatton Water Consumer Services Center said drinking water sources in the Western slopes of the Central hills have been reactivated due to the prevailing rain.
