JVP Parliamentarian Vijitha Herath says many issues within the health sector are a result of the actions of the Government Medical Officers Association.
Speaking in Parliament today, MP Herath said claims are being made over the insufficient allocation for the health industry through the 2022 Budget, the lack of medicines, the plight of estate workers, and the increase in wheat flour among other issues.
MP Herath said the Minister of Health is afraid of the GMOA and its influence, adding that there are three to four members of the GMOA who have significant influence over the Health Ministry.
MP Herath said the power struggle is obvious, adding that the GMOA wants to handle the administration of the Ministry including doctors and their appointments.
The MP charged that millions is going to waste due to the actions of this group.
